Struckhof (formerly also Struckhoff ) is part of the village of Schnathorst , which as a village or district and former municipality belongs to today's municipality of Hüllhorst in the Minden-Lübbecke district in the extreme northeast of North Rhine-Westphalia .

The village of Struckhof is located in the far northeast of the municipality of Hüllhorst, on the southern slope of the Wiehengebirge , at the foot of the Bröderhauser mountain , and is the only larger closed settlement in the area of the village of Schnathorst, next to the main and church village Schnathorst itself. The small settlement "Am Berge", located directly on the Wiehen Mountains, belongs to Struckhof in the broader sense. In the far east, a row of houses in the closed village on the Wallücke belongs administratively to the municipality of Hüllhorst and the village of Schnathorst and consequently also to Struckhof. Struckhof, together with the village of Großenberken , which is immediately south of the Bröderhausen district , is not only the easternmost village of the municipality of Hüllhorst, but also of the old district of Lübbecke . The striking Wallücke mountain pass is only 1.8 kilometers to the east and within sight of the village center. Struckhof was never an independent municipality, not even a peasantry, so that a precise definition of the village area and thus an exact census of area and population is not possible; in the north and east, the "outer border" of the municipality of Hüllhorst forms the border of Struckhof, in the south the boundary of Schnathorst-Bröderhausen is to be regarded as the border of Struckhof. Only to the west is no clear demarcation to Schnathorst possible. The contiguous residential area of the place covers around 20 hectares. However, the village is completely in parcel 001 of the Schnathorst district 2800. The parcel includes the village and adjacent agricultural areas, but includes the mountain forest of the Wiehengebirge in the north, except for a 50 × 300 meter wide forest strip north of the settlement "Am Berge", not included, as the entire Wiehengebirge of the Schnathorst district forms its own parcel "006". The parcel, thus in a certain way the area of Struckhof, covers an area of around 104 hectares. If you add the eastern part of the mountain forest parcel "006", which is immediately north of parcel "001", (i.e. with the western border at the level of the parcel 001 to 005), the extent of Struckhof increases by a further 64 hectares to 168 Hectares.

Neighborhoods

Struckhof borders the following localities, communities and cities (clockwise, starting in the north):

Oberlübbe ( municipality of Hille ), Wulferdingsen ( city of Bad Oeynhausen ) and Bröderhausen (municipality of Hüllhorst).

Culture and sights

Buildings

Brickworks around 1900 in Struckhof
  • The old Watermann brickworks Struckhof 1891–1914. Only the remains of the machine house and the factory owner's house can be seen. Furthermore, the clay mining areas (Kuhlen) in the vicinity can still be made out very well. A stop for the Wallückebahn (1897–1937) was also located here.
  • The Dutch windmill Struckhof is a windmill with the name Struckhof and is located in the far east of the village hall. In 1985 it was put back into operation. The mill was built in 1797 as an octagonal half-timbered building with a round thatched roof. The wooden comb wheel has a circumference of 32 meters.

Regular events

The windmill Struckhof is open with its mill opening days from April to September as part of the Westphalian Mill Road. In flying weather you can also watch paragliders and hang gliders taking off from the winch and then gliding. Tandem flights are possible.

Others

Struckhof belongs to the (Protestant) parish of Schnathorst and, together with Schnathorst and Holsen, to parish I.

traffic

Struckhof stop around 1900

In terms of traffic law, Struckhof does not have the status of a closed town, which can be seen from the fact that there is no yellow place- information sign (according to Appendix 3 to Section 42 (2) StVO, traffic signs 310 and 311), but a small green place-information panel (sign 385 according to Appendix 3) § 42 Abs. 2 StVO) informs the traveler at the entrance to the town. Thus, Struckhof is not a closed town in terms of the Road Traffic Act (StVO).

The village is crossed by the state road 876 (Mindener Straße), which in a sense represents the main street of the village, in an east-west direction. Said street represents a traffic axis between the Hüllhorst area and the district town of Minden . As a result, Struckhof is well connected to the town of Hüllhorst and the district town of Minden, but gives the village a significant amount of through traffic.

Until 1937, Struckhof was connected to the railway network with the Wallücker Willem railway line, which ran along the highway described above. There was also a Struckhof stop here .
