Bröderhausen is a district of the municipality Hüllhorst in the district of Minden-Lübbecke , North Rhine-Westphalia and a former independent municipality.

geography

Bröderhausen is located on the eastern edge of the municipality of Hüllhorst. In the west it borders on Tengern , in the north and northwest on Schnathorst , in the east on Wulferdingsen ( town of Bad Oeynhausen ) and in the south on Mennighüffen ( town of Löhne , Herford district ).

Bröderhausen is strongly agricultural and comparatively sparsely populated. In addition to some smaller forest areas, fields and meadows predominate. Like the rest of the municipality, Bröderhausen is drained to the south.

The Bröderhauser Berg lies in the Wiehengebirge , but already outside the municipality of Hüllhorst, but especially well away from the district of Bröderhausen .

The place has four main settlement areas: In the village, Höchte, Großenberken and Sundern. The village and the Höchte are relatively central, but cannot be called the town center, as such has never really developed. In the north is Großenberken, which is also the highest point of Bröderhausen. The Sundern is located in the south and represents the smallest settlement focus in terms of development.

history

Bröderhausen was first mentioned in a document in 1250. According to tradition, the name Bröderhausen goes back to two brothers who are said to have founded Bröderhausen.

It is reported that Bröderhausen was newly founded in Poland and America .

On January 1, 1973 Bröderhausen was incorporated into Hüllhorst.

On December 31, 2006 there were 687 inhabitants in Bröderhausen.

Culture

A village community center is available to the residents for club life and celebrations. This is located in the old school, which is no longer taught today. The so-called turret, the landmark of Bröderhausen, is also located on the building. Furthermore, the fire station located in a growing fire squad Bröderhausen the volunteer fire Hüllhorst . To the north of the village community center there is also a small football field and the cemetery with cemetery chapel.

The “village festival under the tower” is held annually in and around the village community center. The 750th anniversary celebration took place in 2000. Since then, an additional maypole has been set up in Bröderhausen every year , which is brought back at the village festival.

Economy and Infrastructure

Bröderhausen has always been an agricultural place. No industries or large trades have settled in Bröderhausen.
