The German Academic Equestrian Association eV is the umbrella organization of around 50 student equestrian groups at universities in Germany .

history

It was founded on June 6, 1954 in Bad Harzburg as the successor organization to the Akademischer Reiterbund eV, which was dissolved in the Third Reich. The DAR eV is itself a member of the German Equestrian Association (FN) and the AIEC (Association Internationale des Etudiants Cavaliers), the international association of student riders. He represents the interests of the student riding and provides ideal and material support for the implementation of national and international university competitions up to the German university championships in riding. In addition, the association promotes courses at German riding and driving schools through financial subsidies and organizes its own advanced training courses, mostly for "old academics" from student equestrian sport who are now successfully involved in training, but also at the Warendorf Federal Training Center .

Tournaments

In FEI terminology , student equestrian tournaments are referred to as CHU . The implementation of student equestrian tournaments by student equestrian groups that are affiliated to the DAR differs considerably from the procedure at normal equestrian tournaments. Participants do not ride their own horses , but rather on horses that were provided by non-participants in the tournament. They are also not named individually, but in teams. Usually, the organizing student riding group invites 6 to 15 teams from other universities to each of three participants. They must first complete an A dressage and an A jumping test. Each participant has to compete with two other riders from other teams who ride the same test one after the other on the same horse. The respective winner reaches the next round, an L-dressage (on bridle ) or a low L-jumping. This is followed by an L dressage (on a curb ) or a slightly higher L jumping. In the final, two participants face each other in an M dressage and an M jumping.

The sporting highlight of every season are the German University Championships in Riding (DHM), whose lists of winners include German, European and world champions with Karsten Huck, Tillmann Meyer zu Erpen, Sven Rothenberger and Gina Capellmann-Lütkemeier. As early as 1951, the first university championship after the war took place in Hamburg - still unofficially - before the first German university championship (DHM) took place in 1953 - now with an official blessing - on the Rigalschen Wiese in Bonn-Bad Godesberg . Added to this are the international comparisons that have been taking place since 1984 under the umbrella of the Association Internationale Des Etudiants Cavaliers (AIEC). Every year fifteen nations (including Japan , Canada and Turkey ) meet at the German national tournament SRNC, which is one of the most important international university sporting events. In 1985 the European Championships took place in Darmstadt for the first time and for the last time . In July 1988 the French invited the student riders to the first world championships in Saumur . Every two years, the world championships are the highlight of the international competition program with around 24 participating nations.

The 53rd German University Championships took place from November 26th to 29th, 2009 in Rulle near Osnabrück , the 54th German University Championships took place from December 9th to 12th, 2010 at the State Stud of Saxony-Anhalt in Prussendorf .
