The Studentenwerk Oldenburg supports and supports the students of the university locations Oldenburg , Wilhelmshaven , Emden and Elsfleth in economic, health, social and cultural matters. It has the legal form of an institution under public law and is a member of the German Student Union .

tasks
The tasks of the Studentenwerk include the management of canteens and cafeterias as well as the maintenance of dormitories and childcare facilities. In addition, the facility maintains several advice centers, a department for educational support and a cultural area.
University catering
The Studentenwerk operates a total of six canteens. One of these is located at each of the universities of applied sciences in Wilhelmshaven, Emden and Elsfleth. Three more can be found in Oldenburg, namely on the university campus on Uhlhornsweg and in Wechloy as well as at the FH location Ofener Straße. At the Wechloy and Ofener Strasse locations, the cafeteria is directly linked to the cafeteria. A separate cafeteria has been set up on the Uhlhornsweg campus, at this location the Studentenwerk also operates a café bar in the library and one in building A1. There is also a café lounge on the ground floor of the cafeteria building in Emden. Organic products have been offered in the canteens and cafeterias since the early 1980s. Since 2004, all canteens and cafeterias of the Oldenburg student union have had the state organic seal of the federal government. This award identifies food that comes from controlled organic cultivation. In addition, the restaurants have been sourcing lamb, beef and pork exclusively from species-appropriate husbandry since 1998. The conditions of animal husbandry are constantly monitored by the NEULAND Association, which is supported by the Federation for Environment and Nature Conservation Germany e. V. (BUND) and the German Animal Welfare Association.
Student living space
The Oldenburg Student Union provides a total of 2,198 dormitory spaces in 16 residential complexes. Ten facilities are located in Oldenburg, four in Emden and one more each in Wilhelmshaven and Elsfleth.

consultation
The free counseling services offered by the Studentenwerk include three psychosocial counseling centers, one in Oldenburg, Emden and Wilhelmshaven. Furthermore, a social counseling, a disability counseling and a student finance counseling are located in Oldenburg, which are open to all students of the supervised universities.
BAföG
The Student Union's department for training grants manages the grants for students at the supervised universities in accordance with the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG).
Cultural program
The student union maintains a culture office and organizes numerous cabaret and cabaret events on the UNIKUM student union stage, which was founded in 1985. It also works in close cooperation with the Oldenburger Uni Theater (OUT), an amalgamation of several student theater groups.
childcare
The Studentenwerk maintains four childcare facilities of its own. In Oldenburg, this includes the day care centers Huntemannstraße and Uni-Campus as well as the day care centers Constantia in Emden and Jade-Campus in Wilhelmshaven. In addition, there has been flexible afternoon care for children of students and staff at the University of Oldenburg during the semester since 2009.

Bodies
The work of the management of the student union is supported by self-governing bodies, the board of directors of the student union and the administrative board, in which all universities are represented by students and teachers. The board of directors also includes representatives of the university management of the universities of applied sciences ( Jade University and University of Applied Sciences Emden / Leer ) and the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg .
