The Sturgeon River is a left tributary of the Marchington River in the Kenora District in the western Canadian province of Ontario .
The Sturgeon River forms the drain of Sturgeon Lake . Shortly thereafter, the Ontario Highway 599 crosses the river. It flows in a predominantly westerly direction through the Canadian Shield and flows into the eastern end of Marchington Lake at Robinson . This is drained by the Marchington River . The Canadian National Railway crosses the Sturgeon River just before its mouth. On its way west, the Sturgeon River flows through several lakes, including Fourbay Lake , Dizzy Lake , Conver Lake , Spruce Lake, and Singapore Lake . The river overcomes several rapids between the lakes. The Lake of Bays River flows into Conver Lake when coming from the south and the Nesbitt Creek when coming from the north. The Sturgeon River has a length of about 40 km.
