The Styx River is a river in the northeast of the Australian state of New South Wales .
geography
The river has its source in the Snowy Range , part of the Great Dividing Range on the eastern edge of the northern table country of New South Wales. The source is near the small town of Ebor .
The Styx River runs southwest along the western slopes of the Cunnawarra Range and under the Kempsey - Armidale road . From there it flows into the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park and falls into a deep gorge where it joins the Chandler River .
