Sulayman Sait Mboob

Sulayman Sait Mboob (* 29 June 1948 in Kau-ur ) was Minister of Agriculture ( English Secretary of State for Agriculture ) of the West African country Gambia .

After attending primary school since 1954, Mboob went to Gambia High School in Banjul in 1960 . From 1969 he attended the University of Ulster in Belfast and graduated with a Bachelor of Science . He then went to the Imperial College of Science and Technology at the University of London in 1973 and did his Master of Science and the DIC in Applied Entomology in Tropical Agriculture.

In 1974 Mboob took a job in the Gambia Department of State for Agriculture . He became national coordinator of the Comité permanent Inter-Etats de Lutte contre la Sécheresse dans le Sahel (CILSS) in 1981. From 1983 he worked for the United National Food and Agriculture Organization . He retired at the end of 2003 after working for the UN organization for 21 years.

On April 5, 2004, he was appointed Minister of Agriculture to the Cabinet of Gambia by President Yahya Jammeh , replacing Hassan Sallah in this office. He was sworn in on May 6th. On March 2, 2005, Mboob gave the office to Yankuba Touray . When the president was dismissed, he accused him of misconduct during his tenure.

Mboob was arrested for five days in August 2005 on charges of financial misconduct and then released on bail. His case went to trial in April 2007 and March 2008, having previously served as Commissioner for the Independent Electoral Commission in 2006 .
