Suman Devi (born July 15, 1985 ) is an Indian athlete who specializes in throwing the javelin .

Athletic career

Suman Devi played her first international competition in 2002 at the Junior Asian Championships in Bangkok , where she won the silver medal with a width of 52.33 m. In 2004 she won the bronze medal at the South Asian Games in Islamabad with 50.58 m behind Anne Maheshi De Silva from Sri Lanka and her compatriot Gurmeet Kaur . Then she finished sixth at the Junior Asian Championships in Ipoh with 48.33 m. At the Asian Athletics Championships in 2005 in Incheon , South Korea , she came seventh with a throw of 52.58 m and in 2010 she was ninth at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi with 51.19 m, as well as at the 2013 Asian Championships in Pune with 48.13 m. She also came ninth at the Asian Championships in Wuhan with 46.55 m and in 2016 she won the silver medal behind her compatriot Annu Rani at the South Asian Games in Guwahati with a new best of 59.45 m . In 2017 she took part again in the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar and reached tenth place there with a width of 50.90 m.

In 2001 and 2005 Devi was Indian javelin champion.
