Annu Rani (born August 28, 1992 in Meerut , Uttar Pradesh ) is an Indian athlete who specializes in throwing the javelin .

Athletic career

Annu Rani played her first international competition at the Junior Asian Championships 2010, where she came in sixth with 42.79 m. In 2013 she was seventh at the Asian Championships in Pune with 52.29 m. In 2014 she was eighth at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with 56.37 m and won the bronze medal at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, with 59.53 m. The following year she threw the javelin at the Asian Championships in Wuhan to 51.26 m and finished fifth. Two years later she won the bronze medal at the championships in Bhubaneswar with 57.32 m. In June 2017 she improved her own national record to 61.86 m and thus qualified for the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated with 59.93 m in qualification .

At the end of August 2018, she again took part in the Asian Games in the Indonesian capital Jakarta , where she achieved sixth place with a throw of 53.93 m. The following year she won the silver medal behind the Chinese Lü Huihui at the Asian Championships in Doha with 60.22 m . So she was able to take part again in the World Championships there in October, where she set a new national record in qualification with 62.43 m; in the final she came in eighth with 61.12 m.

In 2012 and 2013, as well as in 2015 and 2019, Rani was Indian javelin champion.
