Sun Is Up is a song by the German dance project RIO It was released as a single and download on May 22, 2015 . As the voice for this song, they got the US singer U-Jean , who has already sung many other tracks of the dance project, into the studio. The title was presented for the first time at the Kontor House of Houe - Summer Edition 2015 .

Compared to the previous single Thinking of You , Sun Is Up also contains elements based on deep house , but the song is much more in the typical RIO style. Also Komodo (Hard Nights) and One in a Million oriented at the at the time very popular big-room style. Due to strong criticism from fans, the duo produced Sun Is Up, a track based on the distinctive dance-pop and house style from previous tracks by the duo. The song was released on May 22, 2015, but there was no early promotion for the song and an official music video was not released parallel to the single release. They couldn't match the success of the last few years either. They did not reach a placement in the iTunes or in the official singles charts.
Music video
The official music video appeared with a slight delay for the first time on June 3, 2015 on Zooland and two days later on Kontor.TV. Behind the normal song title it holds the designation "Top 10 Men's Favorite" which means a list of the 10 most popular activities of a man. These are represented by a number of young, pretty, and barely dressed women. The music video is 2 minutes and 49 seconds long. In addition to the actual scenes, U-Jean is also shown singing the text of the song Playback.

The track was written and composed by Yanou , Manian and Andres Ballinas. The song was produced by Yanou and Manian and was released through their own label Zooland Records and the dance label Kontor Records . The piece was sung by U-Jean and contains synthesizer elements from Manian and Yanou. After having used cover versions again and again in recent years, Sun Is Up is the third original composition in a row. The style of the drop has nevertheless been compared to that of some Calvin Harris tracks, including Let's Go .

Sebastian Wernke-Schmiesing of the music website Dance-Charts gave the title positive feedback and wrote:
“The original composition that we hear in the video is a mixture of classic house sounds and modern dance elements. Long filter trips through the synth lines add a touch of retro house from France. In the main part we feel immediately reminded of older productions by Daft Punk or Stardust. This is underlined by the talk box effects of the vocal. Anyway, U-Jean's vocal is the focus of 'Sun Is Up'. The track exudes a good mood and a lot of strength and energy. In general, the 'RIO feat U-Jean - Sun Is Up' is a typical RIO single. Suspect. Good mood. Summery. All of these keywords apply to the title. If you like commercial dance of the highest quality with excellent vocals, this is the right place for you. The music video is not quite on the level of the song, but it can convince with a lot of bare skin "
Commercial win
In contrast to the previous singles, Sun Is Up could not achieve a placement on iTunes and Amazon, or in the official singles charts. The reason for this was little promotion and no use on radio stations or the like. Even the music video only got just over 100,000 views after several weeks. In contrast to earlier songs, the rating was not particularly good either.
