Sune Andersson

Sune Andersson (born February 22, 1921 in Södertälje , † April 29, 2002 in Solna ) was a Swedish national football player and coach.

career

Andersson played for Ekerö IK from 1934 before moving to Hagalunds IS in 1939 . In 1946 he went to AIK Solna , where he made his debut on September 1 in the Allsvenskan in the 0-0 draw at IS Halmia . A week later, the defender , who was used both as a middle and outside runner , scored his first first division against Degerfors IF . From 1948 he was team captain and was able to celebrate the victory of the Svenska Cup in 1949 . In 1950 he left the club after four seasons, in which he ran 82 times and scored 18 goals, and moved like many of his compatriots to Italy. Before becoming a professional abroad, he worked as a fitter for a telegraph company and fur trader.

From 1950 Andersson played 59 games in Serie A for AS Roma , where he played with his compatriots Stig Sundqvist and Knut Nordahl . He scored twelve goals. In 1952 he returned to Sweden and from 1953 worked as a trainer at Iggesunds IK . From 1955 he was in charge of IFK Eskilstuna . In 1956 he returned as a player for the club back on the pitch and played 30 more games in the Allsvenskan by 1958, where he scored two goals. He then went to Kalmar FF in Division 2 , where he worked until 1961. From 1962 to 1963 he worked at Finspångs AIK , in 1964 he went to Södertälje SK , which had been promoted to Division 2. In 1969 he returned to Hagalunds IS, where he worked in Division 4. In 1971 he ended his career here.

Andersson was a Swedish national player 28 times between 1947 and 1950 . He scored three goals for the national selection. At the Olympic Games in 1948 he won the gold medal with the team, at the World Cup in 1950 he was third. After moving to Italy, he was no longer included in the national team, as professional players were excluded from the association.
