Coordinates: 26 ° 37 ′  S , 152 ° 57 ′  E The Sunshine Coast Region is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Queensland . The area is 2254 km² and has about 300,000 inhabitants.

The region is located on the south-east coast of the state about 100 km north of the capital Brisbane .

The largest city and administrative seat of the LGA is Nambour with around 10,000 inhabitants. history

Today's Sunshine Coast Region was created in 2008 from the City of Caloundra and the two Shires Maroochy and Noosa.

administration

The Sunshine Coast Regional Council has 13 members. Twelve councilors are elected by the residents of the twelve divisions (constituencies). The council chairman and mayor (mayor) is also elected by all residents of the region.
