Susanna von Bayern (born April 2, 1502 in Munich , † April 23, 1543 in Neuburg adDonau ) was a princess of Bavaria-Munich and, through marriage, successively Margravine of Brandenburg-Kulmbach and Countess Palatine of Neuburg .

Life

Susanna was a daughter of Duke Albrecht IV of Bavaria (1447–1508) from his marriage to Kunigunde of Austria (1465–1520), a daughter of Friedrich III. , Holy Roman Emperor .

On August 25, 1518 Susanna married Margrave Casimir von Brandenburg-Kulmbach (1481–1527) at the Diet of Augsburg . Her uncle, Emperor Maximilian I , also took part in the glamorous wedding .

After the death of her first husband, she initially moved to the widow's residence assigned to her in Neustadt an der Aisch , where she received income from the offices of Neustadt, Hoheneck and Dachsbach, for less than a year , then returned to her Bavarian homeland, leaving her son Albrecht and two daughters behind back and married her cousin, who later became Elector Ottheinrich, in Neuburg in 1529 . The marriage turned unhappy and, apart from two miscarriages, remained childless. Ottheinrich built the Grünau hunting lodge for his wife in 1530 .
