Susanne Barth

Susanne Barth (born August 17, 1944 in Groß-Karol , Romania ) is a German actress . She worked with directors such as Peter Palitzsch , Hans Neuenfels , Adolf Dresen , Dimiter Gotscheff , Frank Castorf , Günther Krämer and Jette Steckel .

Life

After graduating from high school, she attended the State Drama School in Hanover . From 1968 to 1974 she was engaged at the Städtische Bühnen Frankfurt , where she played, among others, Frau Gabor in Spring Awakening (directed by Peter Palitzsch), invited to the Theatertreffen in Berlin and also in Fleisser's Purgatory in Ingolstadt (directed by Hans Neuenfels ). In 1969 she was in the first episode of the crime series Der Kommissar .

From 1974 she was a freelance actress. From 1976 to 1985 she accepted a teaching position at the Stuttgart Drama School . She played guest roles at the Staatstheater Stuttgart , for example in the 1975 world premiere of Botho Strauss ' Familiar Faces, Mixed Emotions (directed by Niels-Peter Rudolph ), invited to the Theatertreffen in Berlin or in 1983 as Martha in Albee's Who Is Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (Directed by Thomas Schulte-Michels ). Engagements at numerous German theaters have taken her to Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Munich , among others , as Jane Bowles' "Im Gartenhaus" was also invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen. In addition, she is part of the permanent ensemble of the Cologne Theater , where she stood out for her multi-faceted play. She also had a teaching position at the Folkwang School in Essen for years. She is currently a guest at the Schauspielhaus Bochum , where she plays under the direction of Elmar Goerden in the world premiere of Roland Schimmelpfennig's visit to his father and as Valérie in the Wienerwald . She was also seen in numerous television roles, for example in a 2005 Wilsberg episode. In 2001 she was named the best actress in North Rhine-Westphalia for her role in Margaret Edson's "Geist" . In 2009 she took on a new teaching position at the State University for Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main , which ended in 2012. At the Schauspiel Köln she was seen in two productions by Karin Beier: "The Dirty, The Ugly and the Common" and "The Work" by Elfriede Jelinek - both invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen. She is currently playing in "Dogville" under the direction of Stephan Bachmann. Directed by Bastian Kraft.
