Susanne Leuzinger-Naef

Susanne Leuzinger-Naef (born September 18, 1949 in Solothurn ) is a Swiss lawyer and former judge of the Federal Supreme Court , the highest court in Switzerland. She is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland (SP) .

biography

After studying law at the University of Zurich in 1972 with the licentiate had finished, Leuzinger worked as auditor (trainee) at the District Court Uster operates. In 1975 she was co-founder of the Legal Advice Lawyers Collective . In 1974 she was admitted to the bar by the Canton of Zurich . Until 1994 Leuzinger worked as a freelance lawyer in Zurich .

After gaining a doctorate in law in 1994 with a dissertation on a social security law topic , she worked until 1996 as President of the Federal Appeals Commission for Accident Insurance. From 1995 to 1996 she was also a judge at the Social Insurance Court of the Canton of Zurich . On March 20, 1996, Leuzinger was elected judge at the Federal Insurance Court. In 2004 and 2005 she was its Vice-President, and in 2006 she was President of the Federal Insurance Court.

After this court was transformed into the two social law chambers of the Federal Supreme Court on December 31, 2006, Leuzingen was elected Federal Judge and in October 2006 with 171 votes by the Federal Assembly as the successor to Bernard Corboz as Vice-President of the Federal Supreme Court . On December 3, 2008, the Federal Assembly confirmed her position as Vice-President of the Federal Supreme Court with 211 of 212 valid votes.

December 2015 Leuzinger resigned from her position as federal judge.

Leuzinger was a member of the board of the Swiss Association of Judges (SVR).

Leuzinger is divorced.
