Susanne Lippmann (born March 26, 1961 in Hanover ) is a German politician . From 2006 to 2014 she was Lord Mayor of Hameln .

Career

Professional background

Susanne Lippmann studied law in Marburg and Gießen . She completed her legal traineeship in Lower Saxony and Austria. In 1990 she passed her state examination. Lippmann then worked in various management positions within the state government of Lower Saxony , including a. in the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of the Interior . She was mainly responsible for municipal affairs and for savings banks.

Political career

In 2006 Susanne Lippmann was nominated by the SPD as a candidate for the office of Lord Mayor of Hameln. In a runoff election on September 24, 2006, she received 52.5 percent of the vote. Lippmann took office on November 1, 2006. In Lower Saxony she was the first woman to head a large, independent city. During her tenure, Susanne Lippmann initiated the “Family in the Center” project. The centerpiece is a contact point for families in downtown Hamelin, which was opened in 2011. On October 31, 2014, her term of office as Lord Mayor of Hameln ended after she no longer ran.

Memberships

Lippmann is a member of several supervisory boards, including a. at Stadtwerke Hameln, Hameln Marketing und Tourismus GmbH, KVG, which is responsible for local public transport, and HWG, the municipal housing association. She was chairwoman of the administrative board of the Stadtsparkasse Hameln and is chairwoman of the board of trustees of the Eugen Reintjes Foundation . Lippmann is currently the deputy chairwoman of the Hannover Economic Area Network. She helped set up the network in 2010. Susanne Lippmann volunteers for the German Tenants' Association . In 2011 she became the state chairwoman of the German Tenants' Association Lower Saxony-Bremen e. V. elected. She is also a member of the NDR Broadcasting Council .
