The Sustainable Entrepreneurship Award (SEA for short) is the first international award for sustainable business .

The international award was launched in 2011 by the Austrian media entrepreneur Christina Weidinger . Under the motto "Sustainability is in our hands", companies from all over the world are awarded this prize once a year for their "Best Practice Examples" in the field of sustainable entrepreneurship . The prize is awarded in a total of eight categories or areas of activity. The SEA Best Project - the most convincing project of the year - receives the jury prize endowed with 10,000 euros . There is also an award for the SEA Best Idea and the SEA of Excellence, a special prize for people with exceptional commitment in the field of sustainable entrepreneurship.

Every year an international jury selects projects from the large number of submissions. The winners are awarded once a year at a gala in Vienna . In 2014, 320 projects and ideas from 65 countries were submitted.

Sustainable Entrepreneurship is the designation for the entrepreneurial contribution to sustainable action . Current social and economic issues are to be taken up and linked with profitable business strategies in order to create added value for society and the economy. Sustainable entrepreneurship should serve as a motor for growth , profit and innovation . Entrepreneurs who align their ideas and goals accordingly could in future secure a competitive advantage in the market, strengthen their innovative strength and drive their business success. For Europe, this modern management concept is seen as a possible opportunity to overcome the economic crisis, to take on a pioneering role in this topic and to become an “innovation leader”.

SEA of Excellence

The SEA of Excellence is awarded to people who have demonstrated exceptional sustainability performance. You cannot apply for this prize; it is awarded independently of the jury.

SEA Best Idea

The SEA Best Idea is awarded for future-oriented projects, measures and business ideas that are still being planned. The first steps to become a successful sustainable entrepreneur are often difficult, but they point the way. For this reason, the SEA honors these projects, which are still in the implementation phase - with a clear sustainable orientation. The jury selects a project from the SEA Best Idea submissions, e.g. B. a particularly clever idea, an unusual approach or an innovative implementation.

SEA Forum - The series of events

The SEA Forum is an international discussion platform that aims to bring the idea of ​​sustainable entrepreneurship into politics and business. With this forum, Christina Weidinger brings together experts from all over the world at regular intervals who discuss the current challenges for the environment and society and show how sustainable action can create added value for society and the economy. After the start of the series of events in Alpbach in summer 2013, the forum made a guest appearance at Harvard University in Cambridge , Massachusetts and at the Houses of Parliament in London .
