Marc R. Pacheco
Marc R. Pacheco (born October 29, 1952 in Taunton , Massachusetts ) is an American politician . He belongs to the Democrats . He's the longest uninterrupted member of the Massachusetts Senate, making him the Dean of the Senate.
Career
Pacheco received an associate degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1973, a Bachelor of Science degree from New Hampshire College in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1985 and a Masters in Public Administration from Suffolk University in Boston in 1989 .
From 1980 to 1989 Pacheco was a member of the Taunton School Committee, which he chaired from 1987 to 1988. Since 1993 he has been a member of the Taunton Democratic City Committee and the Democratic State Committee. From 1982 to 1988 Pacheco was Chief Assistant to the Mayor of Taunton. Pacheco was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1988 and to the Massachusetts Senate in 1992 for the first district of Plymouth and Bristol .
From 1995 to 2000, Pacheco was a trustee of the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation and from 2002 to 2003 Appointive Director of the Federal Home Loan of Boston.

Pacheco is the founding chairman of the Senate Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change and works on the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy, the Joint Committee on Economic Development and Energy Technology, the Joint Committee on Export Development and Oversight, the Joint Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture , the Joint State Administration Committee and other committees. In 2007 Al Gore named Pachero a “Climate Leader”.
Together with Americans of Portuguese origin, Pacheco campaigned for independence in East Timor, which was occupied by Indonesia .
Pacheco is an ambassador for the Sustainable Entrepreneurship Award .

Pacheco is married to Barbara (Sylvia) Pacheco.
