Suvi Minkkinen (born December 8, 1994 in Joutsa ) is a Finnish biathlete .

Career

Suvi Minkkinen comes from Joutsa in central Finland and has been an active biathlete since 2007. She competed in her first international races at the Junior World Championships in early 2013 in Obertilliach . A year later she took part in the first races of the IBU Cup of the IBU Cup 2013/14 season. She competed in her last races this winter at the Junior World Championships in Presque Isle, USA . After a winter break from competitions, she took part in races in the second-class IBU Cup again from winter 2015/16 . Two years later, she made her debut in the biathlon world cup at the start of the 2017/18 season in Östersund, Sweden . In the individual race over 15 km, she finished 78th with two shooting errors. In the same winter, she also took part in the European Championships in Ridnaun, Italy, her best result was a 34th place in the individual race and 16th place in the mixed relay in Finland. Shortly afterwards she was nominated by the Finnish Biathlon Association to participate in the 2018 Winter Olympics . In the sprint , Kaisa Mäkäräinen , Mari Laukkanen , Laura Toivanen and Venla Lehtonen were registered for Finland's four starting places . Minkkinen was only used in the individual race , which she finished with four shooting errors in 69th place.
