The women's 7.5 km sprint race in biathlon at the 2018 Winter Olympics took place on February 10, 2018 at 8:15 p.m. The venue was the Alpensia Biathlon Center . Olympic champion was Laura Dahlmeier from Germany, ahead of Norwegian Marte Olsbu and Veronika Vítková from the Czech Republic .

Competition description

The sprint was the individual discipline with the shortest running distance. The total of 7.5 km was divided into three equally long running laps, after the first and second laps the athletes had to hit five targets twice at the shooting range. The first time the shooting was in a lying position, the second time in a standing position. For each target not hit, the athlete had to complete a 150 m penalty loop. The athletes started the race at an interval of 30 seconds (sometimes 15 seconds). The winner was whoever had the fastest overall time at the finish. The best 60 athletes in the sprint qualified to take part in the pursuit race .

Total ascent: 85 m, maximum ascent: 40 m, height difference: 36 m
