Markéta Davidová (born January 3, 1997 in Jablonec nad Nisou ) is a Czech biathlete .

Career

Beginnings

Markéta Davidová took part in international competitions for the first time as part of the 2015 World Junior Championships in Minsk . At the summer biathlon world championships in the same year, she won silver in the junior mixed relay race. At the Junior World Championships next year she won bronze in singles and silver in the relay. At the Summer Biathlon World Championships , the Czech mixed junior relay improved its result from last year and won gold. In the 2016/17 season , Davidová competed in the IBU Cup for the first time and won her second race. After that she had her first World Cup appearance and already reached the points in her second race with a 28th place. Davidová won a medal in every race at the 2017 European Junior Championships . She won the sprint and the pursuit and was third in the individual. In the overall ranking of the World Cup, she reached 92nd place.

2017/18 season - First Olympic Games

Davidová starts the 2017/18 season with three races in the IBU Cup and achieved seventh place in the sprint. From the World Cup in Hochfilzen she started in the World Cup and was able to run into the points once in both Annecy and Antholz . With the Czech relay she always reached the top ten, with the exception of the last race in Oslo , but not on the podium.

She achieved her best results of the season at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . She reached 15th place in the sprint and 25th place in the pursuit. Due to her good results, Davidová qualified for the mass start and came in 18th.

After the Winter Games, she took part in the Junior World Championships in Otepää . In the individual she reached 14th place. She then won the silver medal in the sprint and gold in the subsequent pursuit.

After the Junior World Championships she still took part in the World Cup in Oslo and reached 79th place in the sprint and could not qualify for the pursuit. The season reached the 13th place. In the overall ranking of the World Cup, she was able to improve by one place to 91st place.

2018/19 season - podium places and World Cup victory

In the first race of the 2018/19 World Cup , the individual on the Pokljuka , Davidová achieved third place in the top 10 and at the same time the first podium of her career. In the further course of the season she could not confirm this good result until she surprisingly won the Antholz sprint in January 2019 with an error-free shooting , and 2 days later in the mass start with 2nd place, alongside Laura Dahlmeier and Vanessa Hinz , again on the podium .
