Dunja Zdouc (born January 3, 1994 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian biathlete .

Origin and life

Dunja Zdouc comes from Radsberg and starts for the DSG Sele / Zell . From 2009 she attended the Saalfelden ski school .

Career

Dunja Zdouc made her international debut at the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2011 in Nové Město na Moravě , where a 17th place in the individual was the best result. In 2013 she was able to achieve her first top ten result at a Junior World Championship in Obertilliach with seventh place in the pursuit race. In 2014 Zdouc missed this in the individual and sprint in Presque Isle in eleventh, but was tenth in the pursuit race. With Susanne Hoffmann and Lisa Hauser , she won the bronze medal in the relay race. The Austrian also won bronze in the junior women pursuit of the 2014 European Biathlon Championships in Nové Město na Moravě, after finishing ninth in the sprint and eighth in the individual.

Zdouc contested her first women's race at international level in the IBU Cup 2012/13 . In the sprint from Ridanna , she took 54th place. In 2013 she won first points in Beitostølen as 27th of a single. In 2014 she was able to achieve a podium place in the IBU Cup for the first time in Ruhpolding alongside Iris Schwabl , David Komatz and Sven Grossegger in the mixed relay race. She made her debut in the Biathlon World Cup in Hochfilzen in winter 2013/14 alongside Iris Schwabl, Katharina Innerhofer and Lisa Hauser in a relay race that ended in 16th place. Her first individual races followed at the beginning of the 2014/15 season in Östersund , where she won World Cup points for the first time in the pursuit race with a 33rd place. Zdouc was also allowed to start in junior races this winter, at the junior races of the 2015 European Biathlon Championships in Otepää , she won two silver and one bronze medal. Shortly afterwards, she missed bronze in the individual race at the Junior World Championships in Minsk by eight seconds. She also competed at the 2015 Biathlon World Championships in Kontiolahti , where she qualified for the mass start race for the first time.

At the beginning of the 2015/16 season she was a permanent member of the Austrian team for the World Cup, after several races, which she finished in the lowest places, she only took part in the sprint in Ruhpolding in January 2016 and competed in two races in the second class in Ridnaun IBU Cup . Nevertheless, she was nominated to participate in the World Championships in Oslo . There she took part - with the exception of the mass start, for which she could not qualify - in all individual and relay races. Her best result in the title fights was a fifth place in the mixed relay race together with Lisa Hauser , Simon Eder and Dominik Landertinger .

A year later , she mostly competed in the second-class IBU Cup, but was still nominated for the home world championships in Hochfilzen . Her best result was an eleventh place in the individual competition over 15 km, in the relay race the Austrian women's team was disqualified by Julia Schwaiger after a reload error.

In the 2017/18 season , Zdouc mostly competed in the World Cup, in addition to two starts in the second-class IBU Cup , she also took part in the 2018 European Biathlon Championships in Ridnaun, Italy. There she only started in the sprint race over 7.5 km and only achieved the disappointing 50th place without shooting errors. She also took part in the biathlon competitions at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , but only competed in the individual races there. The Austrian team did not send a women's relay into the race, the mixed relay race was contested by their teammates Lisa Hauser and Katharina Innerhofer .

In the following winter , she started at the first two World Cups of the winter in Slovenia and at the Home World Cup in Hochfilzen , but the rest of the season exclusively in the IBU Cup and the European Championships in Minsk . With a second place in the final of the super sprint in Otepää , she achieved her first podium finish in the IBU Cup with a second place behind the German Anna Weidel .
