Julia Schwaiger (born January 21, 1996 in Zell am See ) is an Austrian biathlete .

Career

Julia Schwaiger comes from Saalfelden and is a member of the local army sports club. She is the daughter of the alpine ski trainer Christian Schwaiger and started biathlon at the age of seven. She made her international debut at the 2013 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Obertilliach, Austria . Just one year later, she won gold in the individual competition and bronze with the Austrian women's relay at the 2014 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Presque Isle, USA . In 2015 and 2016 she won four more medals. She took part in the 2014 , 2015 and 2016 European biathlon championships , but never made it to the podium in any competition. She made her debut in the biathlon world cup at the 2015 biathlon world championships in Kontiolahti, Finland . With a 54th place in the individual competition and a 95th place in the sprint, she missed both the points and the qualification for the pursuit race. At the 2016 Biathlon World Championships at Holmenkollen in Norway, she finished the individual race in 50th place and the relay - together with Lisa Hauser , Dunja Zdouc and Susanne Hoffmann - in 12th place.
