Beginnings (2011 to 2015)
Susanne Hoffmann celebrated her first major success when she won gold in the pursuit competition at the Austrian Biathlon Championships 2011 in Obertilliach at the age of 17. She made her international debut in the IBU Cup 2013/14 in December 2013 in Obertilliach, where she immediately won first points in the sprint as 39th. At the 2014 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Presque Isle , she won bronze in the relay with Dunja Zdouc and Lisa Hauser and thus her first international title.
After Hoffmann was accepted into the A-squad in 2014, she started continuously in the second-rate IBU Cup in winter 2014/15 . She took part in both the European Championships in Otepää, Estonia, and the Junior World Championships in Minsk , Belarus . Eighth place in the individual race - despite five penalty minutes due to missing targets - in Otepää and fifth place in the relay race in Minsk - together with Dunja Zdouc and Susanna Kurzthaler - were their best placings at these championships. The IBU Cup in Canadian Canmore reached in the mixed relay together with Christina Rieder , Michael Reiter and Friedrich Pinter behind the team of France in second place and thus their first international podium.
World Cup debut and retirement (2015 to 2019)
After two top 10 placements in the IBU Cup 2015/16 in Ridnaun , Italy , Susanne Hoffmann was nominated for her first World Cup race. In the 2015/16 World Cup winter she made her debut in Pokljuka, Slovenia , clearly missing the points and qualification for the pursuit race as 80th with two shooting errors. She finished the sprint and individual races in Ruhpolding in 85th and 71st place respectively, the women's relay finished - in the line-up of Hoffmann, Julia Schwaiger , Simone Kupfner and Susanna Kurzthaler, after lapping only 18th place. Despite these results, Hoffmann was used in all World Cups until the end of the year. At the World Cup in Antholz , Italy , she shot flawlessly for the first time in a World Cup race, finished 52nd in the sprint and qualified for a pursuit race for the first time, which she also finished in 52nd place. In Canadian Canmore reached despite two shooting errors in the sprint races for the first time World Cup points. A week later she achieved her first top 10 result in the World Cup with Dunja Zdouc , Lisa Hauser and Christina Rieder in the women's relay as the final runner in the US Presque Isle . She took this winter also at the World Championships in Norway Oslo in part, a 37th place in the sprint race was their best finish at the championships.
In the winter of 2016/17 Susanne Hoffmann almost exclusively took part in races in the second-class IBU Cup . There they reached - as well as with the European Championships in Poland Duszniki-Zdroj - only in the relay race top-10 finishes. She strengthened the Austrian World Cup team in the test competitions for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , but failed to qualify for the pursuit race in the sprint.
After good results in the IBU Cup races in Sjusjøen , Lenzerheide and Obertilliach , she was nominated for the World Cup races in Oberhof and Ruhpolding in January 2018 and for the two women's relays held there. With the exception of the mass start in Ruhpolding, she contested all races and narrowly missed the points in the sprint in Oberhof. From the EM2018 she started again exclusively in the second-class IBU Cup. In February 2019 she won the 28 km free technique at the Koasalauf .
On September 12, 2019, Hoffmann announced her retirement from active competitive sports.
