Susanna Kurzthaler (born May 16, 1995 in Innsbruck ) is a former Austrian biathlete .

Susanna Kurzthaler from Mils visits the Stams ski school and starts for Nordic Team Absam , where she is trained by Florian Steirer. She made her international debut at the 2014 Junior Biathlon World Championships in Presque Isle . After good results in individual, sprint and pursuit with ranks 16, 13 and eleven, she won the bronze medal behind France and Russia in the relay race alongside Julia Schwaiger and Simone Kupfner . The 2014 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Tyumen followed . Kurzthaler finished 25th in the sprint and 23rd in the pursuit in the juniors' races. For the season she was appointed to the side of Simone Kupfner, Fabian Hörl and Lorenz Wäger in Austria's A season, which, however, did not start in the end. She was also used in the junior races of the 2015 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Otepää and was 25th in the individual, ninth in the sprint and 20th in the pursuit. For the relay race she was used for the first time in the Austrian A team.

Kurzthaler competed in her first IBU Cup races in 2014 in Obertilliach . Already in the first outing, she was sixth of an individual and not only reached the points, but also a single-digit placement. It is Kurzthaler's best result so far in the racing series. At the 2015 European Championships, she contested her first race at an international championship with Susanne Hoffmann , Christina Rieder and Fabienne Hartweger in the relay race and finished 13th.

Kurzthaler won nationally at the Austrian championships in 2013 and 2014 with Lisa Hauser and Simone Kupfner and with Magdalena Fankhauser and Simone Kupfner as representatives of Tyrol, the runner-up in the relay races.

Kurzthaler ended her career as reigning junior world champion on September 7, 2016. As reasons, she gave, among other things, the closure of her training base in Seefeld and the lack of support from the ÖSV. In addition, she was not included in the operational customs control and without financial security, neither the move to Hochfilzen nor the stay in competitive sport would have been possible.
