Anastassija Olehiwna Merkuschyna ( Ukrainian Анастасія Олегівна Меркушина , English Anastasiya Merkushyna ; born January 14, 1995 in Sumy ) is a Ukrainian biathlete .

Career

Merkuschyna lives in Pidhorodne , Ternopil Oblast and starts for Dynamo . Her trainers are her parents Iryna Merkuschina and Oleh Merkuschin. Between 2010 and 2013 she took part in four biathlon junior world championships and in 2011, 2012 and 2014 in the junior races of the biathlon European championships . 2010 was 14th place in Torsby best result. In 2011 she won the silver medal in the relay race in Nové Město na Moravě with Julija Bryhynez and Iryna Warwynez . A year later she won the title in Kontiolahti with Julija Schurawok and Bryhynez, and in 2013 in Obertilliach again silver with Schurawok and Anastasia Niciporenko . In 2013 she also won the bronze medal in the individual, behind Uljana Kaischewa and Schurawok. At the 2011 European Biathlon Championships in Martell , she was only used with the relay with which Merkuschyna was fifth. In 2012 she won after 13th places in sprint and pursuit in Osrblie with Iryna Warwynez, Iwan Morawskyj and Oleksandr Dachno the bronze medal with the mixed relay. In 2014 she won the individual silver medal in Nové Město na Moravě behind Anastassija Jewsjunina .

For women, Merkuschyna made her debut at the age of 15 at the beginning of the 2010/11 season in Beitostølen in the IBU Cup and was 67th of a sprint. In 2013 she won points for the first time as sprint eleventh and at the same time narrowly missed a place in the top ten. It was also her best result in the racing series so far. At the European Championships in 2014, she was appointed to the national team after success in the individual races of the juniors for the relay and was sixth at the side of Jana Bondar , Olga Abramowa and Iryna Varwynez.

She achieved her first podium in the IBU Cup in December 2014 as second in a sprint in Obertilliach , her first victory in the single mixed relay together with Artem Tyschtschenko in January 2016 in Langdorf . In December 2016 she won the single mixed competition in Ridnaun-Val Ridanna in a team with Tyschtschenko and then her first sprint in the IBU Cup. One day after this race, Merkuschyna was used as the final runner in the Ukrainian women's relay at the World Cup in Pokljuka and secured third place for them.
