The mixed relay in biathlon at the 2018 Winter Olympics took place on February 20, 2018 at 8:15 p.m. The venue was the Alpensia Biathlon Center . The French season with Marie Dorin-Habert , Anaïs Bescond , Simon Desthieux and Martin Fourcade won the gold medal. Silver went to the relay from Norway and bronze to the relay from Italy. The protest of the fourth-placed Germans due to the obstruction by the Italian final runner at the finish was rejected.

Competition description

In the mixed relay, two women first had to complete a 6 km run in three laps; after the first two rounds the shooting range had to be started once. The first time you had to shoot lying down, the second time standing. The athletes had up to three reload cartridges available for each shooting bout. For each target that was not hit after all eight shots had been fired, a penalty loop with a length of 150 m had to be completed. The baton was handed over by clearly touching the body within a given transition zone. After two women, two men went into the race one after the other. Their running distance was 7.5 km, which also had to be completed in three laps. The same rules applied to shooting as to women. At the end of his third lap, the last athlete no longer ran into the transition area, but directly to the finish. The winner was the nation whose relay reached the finish line first.

Total ascent: 2 × 156 m / 2 × 255 m; Maximum ascent: 40 m; Difference in altitude: 36 m
20 relays at the start, 2 of which lapped
