Klemen Bauer (born January 9, 1986 in Ljubljana , SR Slovenia , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Slovenian biathlete .

Career

Klemen Bauer has been involved in biathlon since 1996 and has been a member of the Slovenian national team since 2000. The student from Ihan took part in six Junior World Championships between 2002 and 2007. In 2002 the athlete from SK Ihan finished fourth in the relay in Ridanna , 2003 in Kościelisko sixth. In 2004 in Haute-Maurienne , the bronze medal with the relay also came the silver medal in the sprint and bronze in the individual. In 2005 he won another silver medal in the sprint in Kontiolahti . In 2006 in Presque Isle , he narrowly missed the medals in several races in fourth and fifth. In 2007 in Martell he won another bronze medal in singles.

Bauer has been competing in the Biathlon World Cup since the 2005/06 season . He contested his first race in 2006 in Oberhof . In the sprint he was 80th with the season 13. In Hochfilzen he achieved his best season result so far with a fifth place with the season three years later. The highlights of Bauer's biathlon career so far have been participation in the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin with tenth place in the relay as the best result and participation in the Biathlon World Championships in Antholz in 2007 and in Östersund in 2008 . In Antholz he took a good 31st place in the sprint. In the mixed relay he narrowly missed a medal with Teja Gregorin , Tadeja Brankovič and Janez Marič in fourth place. The results in 2008 were less good. Nevertheless, the 2007/08 season was a great success for Bauer. In Pyeongchang he was able to finish eighth in a sprint race and finish in the top ten for the first time. Klemen Bauer took part in the 2010 Winter Olympics. His best result was fourth in the sprint and ninth in the pursuit that followed. With the relay he finished 17th. At the Slovenian Biathlon Championships in 2010 , he won the championship title again after 2009 .
