Sari Maeda (born May 25, 1990 in Kutchan , nee Furuya ) is a Japanese biathlete .

Career

Maeda ran her first international race in December 2015 in the IBU Cup 2015/16 in Ridnaun . With the mixed relay she was 14th. In her first individual race she ran in the sprint in Ridnaun in 70th place after she missed three targets at the shooting range. Sari Maeda made her first appearance at the highest level of biathlon when she was in the Japanese women's relay at a world championship . In 2016 in Oslo she ran with Fuyuko Tachizaki , Rina Mitsuhashi and Yurie Tanaka in 19th place. With the start of the 2016/17 season , Sari Maeda was consistently part of the Japanese World Cup team. Despite four shooting errors, she managed to score her first World Cup points in the singles in Östersund with 34th place. Maeda was always part of the World Cup team in the 2017/18 season . Her best career result to date was 28th place at the World Cup in Kontiolahti .

At the 2018 Olympics , a 49th place in the sprint was her best result. At the 2018 Summer Biathlon World Championships , she and her teammates came in 5th in the mixed season. In the sprint at the World Cup in Hochfilzen 2018/19 , Sari Maeda was 26th, her best career result.
