Zhang Yan ( Chinese  张岩 , Pinyin Zhāng Yán ; born May 10, 1992 ) is a Chinese biathlete .

Zhang Yan made her international debut at the 2009 Junior World Championships in Canmore , where she won the individual titles ahead of Grace Boutot and Yolaine Oddou and together with Olga Galitsch ahead of Audrey Vaillancourt in third place. In the pursuit race she dropped to fourth place behind Dorothea Wierer , Marion Charles and Marie-Christin Kloss . She achieved her worst result with Wei Ma and Tang Jialin as the final runners of the season with eighth place. It was not until the 2011/12 season that the Chinese made her debut in the women's World Cup in Hochfilzen in a relay race alongside Tang Jialin, Song Chaoqing and Wang Chunli and finished 16th. This was followed by a first race in Ridnaun in the IBU Cup , Zhang was 58th of an individual. In Oslo , she contested the first individual race in the World Cup on Holmenkollen , where she finished 67th in the sprint. The Chinese achieved her best result so far in the World Cup a little later in Kontiolahti with a 64th place in the sprint. The highlight of the season and the first international women's championships were the 2012 World Championships in Ruhpolding . In the individual she finished 78th, missed the pursuit race as 91st of the sprint and came with the relay in the World Cup line-up on 25th place. In the 2012/2013 World Cup season in Oberhof, after finishing 48th in the sprint, Zhang Yan was able to finish the subsequent pursuit race in 16th place after faultless shooting, thus winning points in the World Cup for the first time.
