The Suzuki Bandit 600 ( GSF 600 ) is a motorcycle of the Naked Bike and Sports Tourer category by the Japanese manufacturer Suzuki , which was manufactured from 1995 to 2004.
The motorcycle is usually available with (sports tourer) or without (naked bike) half fairing. The Bandit is fitted as standard with a finely ribbed air / oil-cooled 600 cm 3 four-cylinder engine with 57 kW. The curb weight of the naked version is 226 kg.
A distinction is made between two models of the 600 Bandits: from 1995 to 1999 and from 2000 to 2004. The newer model has the upper frame angled straight instead of as before. With the faired versions, the difference is easier to see because the older version has a single square headlight and the newer a double headlight. In this case, a secondary air system (SLS system) was installed on the engine as well as a longer strut.
Model names
Designations for the series in enthusiastic circles:
- Kult (GN77) for the years 1995 to 1999
- Pop (WVA8) for the years 2000 to 2004
- NEO for the years of construction 2005 and 2006
- EVO for the years of construction 2007 and 2008
Model development
- 1995 (model year S ): The name and styling of the Bandit were largely adopted from the GSF 400. The engine was largely identical to that of the GSX 600. Colors: red and green.
- 1996 (model year T ): This also included the half-faired version GSF 600 S, which was introduced in November 1995. In addition to its half-fairing, the S version had a main stand and passenger handles. The GSF 600 N (naked) was continued without significant changes. Colors: red, green and blue.
- 1997 (model year V ): A clutch switch is integrated into the safety circuit of the electric starter of both Bandit models. In addition, some models are delivered with a carburetor heater. Colors: red, green and black.
- 1998 (model year W ): The undisguised Bandit N receives passenger handles. The half-clad Bandit S continues to be built unchanged. Colors: blue, black and orange.
- 1999 (model year X ): Both Bandit models receive a new shock absorber. This makes it possible to set the rebound and compression stage. Colors: blue, black and red.
- 2000 (model year Y ): Both model variants receive a revised frame including attachments. A fully electronic instrument panel with LED lamps is now available. New carburetors with throttle valve sensors, an additional fuel filter, Tokico instead of Nissin brake calipers, a more powerful alternator, different tires and an enlarged tank (20 liters) are installed. The S version is also given a new half-fairing with a double headlight (1 high beam and 1 low beam). Colors: blue, black and red.
- 2001 (model year K1 ): Both models continue to be built without any major changes. Colors: blue, black and red.
- 2002 (model year K2 ): The Bandits are equipped with a fuel gauge. Improved ignition boxes are also installed. Colors: red, black, blue and silver.
- 2003 (model year K3 ): The steering head bearings of both versions are converted from cage ball bearings to tapered roller bearings . The light switch on both models is omitted (permanent light switch), a hazard warning switch is integrated instead. Colors: yellow, black, blue and silver.
- 2004 (model year K4 ): There are no significant changes to the models. Colors: black, blue and silver.
successor
At the beginning of 2005 the GSF 600 was replaced by the Bandit 650 ( K5 / K6 ) with ABS . This model is called Neo in internal circles and was built up to and including 2006. But there are also a few 650 bandits that were delivered without ABS.
From 2007 a completely new model of the Bandit 650 ( AK7 ) was presented. This model is also called the Evo . One of the most serious changes is the now water-cooled engine with intake manifold injection . The power increased to 63 kW (86 PS). There are no visual differences.
