Sven Lehmann (born December 18, 1991 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss football player . He has been under contract with USV Eschen-Mauren in the first division since the 2018/19 season .

Career

societies

Sven Lehmann started playing football at FC Winkeln before moving to the youth department of FC St. Gallen in 2003 at the age of 11 . Lehmann went through all training levels there and was also deployed for various young Swiss national teams.

On May 13, 2010, Sven Lehmann made his debut in the first team of FC St. Gallen in the game against AC Bellinzona . The striker scored his first goal in the Swiss Cup against FC Flawil when he scored 2-1 in extra time. After the relegation of the FCSG, Lehmann played more and more in the Challenge League and also scored the winning goal in the top game in Bellinzona.

However, Sven Lehmann often has to deal with months of absence due to injuries. For example, a tumor had to be removed from the bone of his shin at the end of 2010 , and in March 2012 he broke his left shin during training. When he made his first missions with the U21 team of FC St. Gallen in September 2013, Lehmann broke his left shin again.

In the summer of 2014, Lehmann ended his professional career due to numerous injuries and returned to FC Winkeln in January 2015. In the 2016/17 season he was the top scorer in the 2nd interregional league (group 6) with 25 goals, scoring almost half of all his team's goals (51 goals). In the table they placed themselves in 10th place and thus only two ranks above the relegation places.

For the 2017/18 season he moved from the 1st division to FC Gossau , for whom he scored 17 goals in 25 games, making him the second best goalscorer in the 1st division. The desired second place in the championship, which entitles to participate in the promotion games for the Promotion League , was missed by two points.

For the 2018/19 season, Lehmann was signed by the Liechtenstein club USV Eschen-Mauren , where he will form the storm duo together with Michael Bärtsch. Last season, USV Eschen-Mauren was just barely able to save themselves to 12th place in the first division (group 3) with a tie with FC Seuzach thanks to the better goal difference and thus save themselves from relegation.

National team

Due to his positive development in club football, Lehmann was called up for the first time in 2008 for the junior national team (U-17) . In the third group game of the U-17 European Championship in 2008 against France , Lehmann came on in the 69th minute for Dino Rebronja. The game was lost 2-0 and Switzerland was eliminated in third place in the group stage. In the Swiss team he stood at the side of Xherdan Shaqiri , Admir Mehmedi , Taulant Xhaka and Michael Lang, among others . For Lehmann it was the only mission for the U-17 in Switzerland.

In 2009 there were two more appearances for the U-19s , which also meant the last games for the Swiss national team.
