Sven Mislintat

Sven Mislintat (born November 5, 1972 in Kamen ) is a German football official and player observer . He was head scout at Borussia Dortmund from 2006 to 2017 and at Arsenal FC from 2017 to 2019 . Since May 2019 he has been the sports director of VfB Stuttgart .

Career

Mislintat grew up in Kamen . After studying sports science at the Ruhr University in Bochum , he worked as head scout and head of professional football at Borussia Dortmund since 2006 . He recommended players like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang , Ousmane Dembélé and Shinji Kagawa to the club . He has been a trained football teacher since 2011 . In 2016 he co-founded the German start-up company matchmetrics GmbH .

To December 1, 2017 changed Mislintat as head of the scouting department ( "Head of recruitment") for Arsenal . In London he was responsible for the obligations of Lucas Torreira , Mattéo Guendouzi and Bernd Leno and - as before in Dortmund - arranged the obligation of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He left Arsenal FC on February 8, 2019.

On April 11, 2019, Mislintat became the new sports director of VfB Stuttgart . Under sports director Thomas Hitzlsperger , for example, he is responsible for the transfers of the football department of VfB.

Because of his talent for discovering young talent at an early stage, Mislintat is also known as the “diamond eye”.
