Sven Papcke

Sven Gustav Papcke (born November 18, 1939 in Hamburg ) is a German sociologist. Most recently he was a professor at the Institute for Sociology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . He has lived in Berlin since his retirement in 2005 . His work focuses on the history of social ideas, political sociology , the European movement and the history of the subject sociology.

Life

After graduating from high school at the Christianeum in Hamburg , he studied history and sociology in Hamburg and London. Since 1968 he has been a research assistant at the Ruhr University Bochum at the chair of Urs Jaeggi , 1973 assistant professor at the Free University of Berlin and since 1974 professor of sociology at the University of Münster, where he continues to work after his retirement.

From 2000 to 2005 he was chairman of the Münster district association of the non-partisan European Union Germany . He is the author of numerous monographs, articles, reviews and radio reports as well as the editor of various anthologies and reference works and scientific series.
