Switgard Feuerstein (born November 21, 1960 in Kiel ; born Rauschning ) is a German economist and university professor .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1977 at the Göttingen Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium , Feuerstein studied mathematics and economics at the universities of Göttingen and Heidelberg as well as in Warsaw and Singapore from 1978 . In 1985 she obtained a diploma in mathematics in Heidelberg, after which she was a research assistant there . In 1991 she completed her doctorate at the university as a Dr. rer. pole. with the work Studies on Exchange Rate Union: Macroeconomic Consequences of the Interactions between Fixed and Flexible Exchange Rates . Feuerstein remained until her habilitation in 1998 with the work Costs and Collusion: Contributions to Industrial Economics as a university assistant in Heidelberg and completed a research stay at the Tinbergen Institute in Amsterdam in 1995 .

From 1998 to 1999, Feuerstein took over the professorship for economics, in particular international economic relations at the University of Essen , afterwards she worked as a university lecturer at the University of Heidelberg from 1999 to 2005 . In 2005 she held a visiting professorship for foreign trade at the University of Linz .

In 2005, Feuerstein accepted a call to the interdisciplinary political science faculty of the University of Erfurt for the professorship for international economics , which she held until 2008. From 2006 to 2008 she accepted the Marie Curie Fellowship of the European Union for a research stay at the University of Nottingham . Since 2008 she has been a professor at the Alfred Weber Institute for Economic Sciences in Heidelberg in the foreign trade work group.

Research priorities

Feuerstein deals with international economic relations as well as industrial economics .
