Syangboche is a small town in the Khumbu region ( Namche municipality in the Solukhumbu district ) in Nepal immediately north of Namche Bazar . It lies at 3720  m .

In Syangboche there is a short, unpaved maneuvering area ( IATA airport code SYH , ICAO code VNSB , 13/31, 405 m × 30 m), which is suitable for landing small, single-engine machines and helicopters. In 1995 a small, privately owned helicopter company began offering commercial flights for trekkers and expeditions. In 1996 this led to massive protests on the part of the lodge owners in the places of the traditional route to the Khumbu ( Lukla and Phakding ) and the porters, who feared for their existence, whereupon the passenger air traffic was banned by the Nepalese government.

Everest View Hotel

The Syangboche Panorama Hotel or Everest View Hotel is located directly above the village . Since it is already at an altitude of 3970  m at which an altitude adjustment is absolutely necessary to protect against altitude sickness , the rooms are enriched with additional oxygen. The hotel is particularly popular with Japanese tourists and offers breathtaking views of Mount Everest , Lhotse , Nuptse and Ama Dablam .
