Sylvia Chang
Sylvia Chang ( Chinese 張艾嘉 ; born July 22, 1953 in Chiayi , Taiwan ) is a Taiwanese actress , director , screenwriter and film producer .
Sylvia Chang has been an actress in film productions from Taiwan and Hong Kong since the early 1970s . She played in almost 100 film productions and is one of the most popular actresses in China. Since the early 1980s she has also worked as a film director, mostly contributing the scripts for her films and also taking on roles in the films herself.
She has received several awards for her work in her home country and was a member of the international jury at the 1992 Berlinale . Her directorial work 20:30:40 about three women aged 20, 30 and 40 in what is now Taiwan took part in the 2004 Berlinale competition.
In 2018, Chang was inducted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars annually. In the same year she was appointed to the competition jury of the 75th Venice International Film Festival .
