Sylvia Potts

Sylvia Mildred Potts , née Sylvia Mildred Oxenham (born September 19, 1943 in Palmerston North , † August 31, 1999 in Hastings ), was a New Zealand middle-distance runner .

In 1968 she reached the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in Mexico City over 800 m .

At the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in 1970 , she fell over 1500 m in the lead two meters from the goal and fell back to ninth place. She finished fifth over 800 m .

In 1974 she was eighth over 1500 m at the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch .

She was New Zealand champion three times over 440 yards or 400 m (1967, 1969, 1970), twice over 880 yards (1969) or 800 m (1970 with her personal best of 2: 04.08 min) and once in cross country ( 1970).

In 1965 she married her trainer Alan Potts. At the age of 55 she succumbed to cancer .
