Symne (Ukrainian Зимне ; Russian Зимнее / Simneje , Polish Zimno ) is a village in western Ukraine in Volyn Oblast , Wolodymyr-Wolynskyj district, about 5 kilometers south of the district capital Volodymyr-Wolynskyj and 69 kilometers west of the Oblast capital Lutsk on the Luha River.
On November 5, 2015, the village became the center of the newly founded rural community Symne (Зимнівська сільська громада / Symniwska silska hromada ). At that includes also the 23 villages Bubniw (Бубнів) Chmeliw (Хмелів) Chmeliwka (Хмелівка) Chobultowa (Хобултова) Falemytschi (Фалемичі) Horytschiw (Горичів) Kohylne (Когильне) Ljotnytsche (Льотниче) Marija- Wolja (Марія-Воля) Markostaw (Маркостав) Mykulytschi (Микуличі) Nechworowschtscha (Нехвороща) Oktawyn (Октавин) Ostriwok (Острівок) Pidhaitsi (Підгайці) Ponytschiw (Поничів) Rusniw (Руснів) Schystiw (Шистів ) Schytani (Житані) Selez (Селець) Tschertschytschi (Черчичі) Tschesnyj Chrest (Чесний Хрест) and Wolodymyriwka (Володимирівка) until then, the village formed together with the villages Falemytschi , Horytschiw , Oktawyn and Schystiw the district community same.
history
The place is mentioned in writing for the first time in 1450 and until 1793 belonged to the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania in the Volyn Voivodeship . With the partitions of Poland , the place fell to the Russian Empire and was in the Volhynia governorate until the end of the First World War .
After the First World War, the place became part of Poland (in the Voivodeship of Volhynia , Powiat Włodzimierz , Gmina Mikulicze ), during the Second World War it was occupied by the Soviet Union between 1939 and 1941 . After the attack on the Soviet Union in June 1941 it was occupied by Germany until 1944 , this divided the place into the Reichskommissariat Ukraine in the general district Brest-Litowsk / Volhynien-Podolia , district Vladimir Volynsk .
After the war, the place was added to the Soviet Union. There the village came to the Ukrainian SSR and since 1991 it has been part of today's Ukraine.
In the village is the Symne Monastery , a building from the 15th century.
