The synagogue in Hottenbach , a local community in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate , was probably built in the middle of the 19th century. The secular synagogue is located at Ringstrasse 45.

history

Between 1913 and 1927, the synagogue was abandoned because there is not enough Jewish men to achieve the necessary number ten ( minyan were available). However, the synagogue building remained in the possession of the Jewish community.

Since November 1937, the community of Hottenbach tried to buy the synagogue. During the November pogrom in 1938 , the building was demolished by SA men. The tablets of the law in the gable were smashed, Torah scrolls and prayer books were desecrated. During the Second World War , the building was used as a soldiers' accommodation and as a prison camp.

After 1945 the synagogue building came to the Jewish asset management, which sold it in December 1949 to the community of Hottenbach, from which it was converted in 1951. In 1981 the building came into private ownership and was converted into a residential building.
