The synagogue in Saint-Louis , a French commune in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region , was built between 1905 and 1907. The synagogue is located at 5 rue de la Synagogue.

history

The synagogue was built according to plans by the architect Alexandre Louvat . It may have been inspired by the Soultz-sous-Forêts synagogue , which was built in 1897. In 1933 the synagogue was enlarged as the number of community members increased due to the fact that Jews from the surrounding villages and Jewish emigrants from Germany grew .

During the German occupation in World War II , the synagogue was looted and demolished.
