Synagogue (Réguisheim)
The synagogue in Réguisheim , a French commune in the Haut-Rhin department of the historic Alsace region , was built around 1840. The synagogue at 4 rue du Syndicat has been added to the heritage inventory.
The roof structure and the women's gallery were created by the Mulhouse- born carpenter André Ichters from Meyenheim . The canopy above the stairs to the Torah shrine , supported by coupled columns and crowned with battlements , was created by the Müllheim sculptor Martin Schwab around 1865. During the renovation in 1886, a stucco decoration was attached to the ceiling .
Presumably, services were held in the synagogue until the Réguisheim Jewish community was dissolved around 1935.
The building was used as a granary until 1992, when the former synagogue has been threatened with decay.
