history
In Soultz-sous-Forêts there was already a synagogue in the Middle Ages , which is mentioned in 1343. In 1838 a new synagogue was built, which was replaced in 1897 by the building that still exists today. The synagogue was badly damaged by the German occupiers during the Second World War and, after the renovation, was used as a place of worship by Jews from North Africa from 1962.
Todays use
Today the community of Soultz-sous-Forêts owns the synagogue, which is now used for cultural purposes.
