Synagogue (Balbronn)
The synagogue in Balbronn , a French commune in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region , was built in 1895 to replace a synagogue from the 1730s that had become too small. The synagogue on Rue des Femmes has been classified as a Monument historique since 1999 .
description
The building made of local sandstone in the neo-Romanesque style is 11.8 meters wide and 22.2 meters long. The main facade is 15 meters high. The synagogue has space for 100 men and 60 women on the gallery . Above the portal with tympanum there is a round window. The tablets of the law stand on the top of the gable .
After 1945 the synagogue was no longer used for church services.
