The Synja ( Russian Сыня ) is a left tributary of the Ob in Western Siberia .

The Synja arises in the southwest of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug on the western flank of the Polarural at the confluence of its two source rivers Mokraja Synja (right) and Suchaja Synja (left). It flows first in a predominantly southerly direction through the Ural foothills, but then turns to the east and reaches the lowlands and flows into the river Malaja Ob ( Малая Обь , "Little Ob"), a western branch of the Obs. The Synja has a length of 217 km (including the 87 km long Mokraja Synja 304 km). Its catchment area covers 13,500 km². 88 km above the mouth, the mean discharge (MQ) is 96 m³ / s. The river is ice-free between May and October. The fauna of the fish-rich river includes arctic vendace , peled vendace , great vendace and tugun .
