Széphalom is a district of Sátoraljaújhely in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county . Until 1981 Széphalom was an independent municipality .

Geographical location

Széphalom is located about four kilometers north of the city center of Sátoraljaújhely in northern Hungary , one kilometer from the border with Slovakia . Neighboring communities are Alsóregmec and Mikóháza .

history

The Hungarian writer and reformer of the Hungarian language Ferenc Kazinczy lived and died here, as is remembered by a monument designed by Miklós Ybl and the Museum of the Hungarian Language.
