Mikóháza is a municipality in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county .
Geographical location
Mikóháza is located in northern Hungary , 100 kilometers from the Miskolc county seat . Neighboring communities are Alsóregmec 4 km, Vilyvitány 6 km and Széphalom 5 km. The nearest town, Sátoraljaújhely, is 5 km from Mikóháza.
history
The name of the village dates back to Miko, who in 1273 this territory as a fief of Elizabeth, the wife of King Ladislaus IV. Received. The residents mostly lived from forest management.
Mikóháza were not occupied by the Turks. As a result of the Reformation and Counter-Reformation, the population was divided according to the creed. The first church was built in 1769 .
Later Russians , Germans and Jews also settled here .
