The TCG Heybeliada (F-511) is a corvette and the lead ship of the Ada class of the Turkish Navy . It is designed for fighting submarines and is a stealth ship .
Naming and history
The TCG Heybeliada is named after the naval school on Heybeliada Island .
The TCG Heybeliada was developed and built in the İstanbul naval shipyard as part of the MİlGEM project (National Ship). Completed on January 22, 2007, the ship was launched on September 27, 2008 and entered service on September 28, 2011, the 473rd anniversary of the Battle of Preveza .
Armament
The TCG Heybeliada is equipped with the GENESIS combat system. It controls search and navigation radars, electronic warfare , weapons, countermeasures, communications equipment, underwater and surface sensors. The ship is equipped with a 76 mm OtoMelara Super Rapid naval gun and two Aselsan - STAMP 12.7 mm machine guns as well as eight AGM-84 Harpoon , 21 RAM (PDMS) s and two 324 mm Marks -32 triple torpedo tubes equipped for Mark 46 torpedoes.
