The male footballers joined FC Ederbergland on July 1, 1997 together with those of SV Allendorf, which was founded in 1924 . This association was founded on March 10, 1997.

Women's soccer

The soccer players first attracted attention in 1975 when they won the Hessian championship and qualified for the final round of the German championship . In the first round, the team met SC 07 Bad Neuenahr and achieved a 2-2 in their own first leg. A 4-0 defeat in the second leg resulted in the end. Ten years later, TSV was one of the founding members of the then first-class Oberliga Hessen. They got down from this in 1988 and managed to get back up straight away. In 1992, the team was again Hessian champion and made the promotion in the following round of promotion to the Bundesliga without losing points.

There it was only just enough to keep up in the 1992/93 season. In the following season , the TSV rose from bottom of the table. Against the season winner TuS Niederkirchen , the team lost 2:12 at home. With Birgitt Austermühl , TSV provided a German national player who took part in the 1991 World Cup during her time in Battenberg . In addition, TSV Battenberg produced two other national players, the sisters Pia and Tina Wunderlich .

Men's soccer

The men of TSV Battenberg reached the Landesliga Hessen-Mitte for the first time in 1979 . At the same time, the team reached the DFB-Pokal , where a 5: 4 succeeded in the first round after extra time against SV Auersmacher . In the second round, the Battenberger beat Bramfelder SV 2-0 after extra time. Finally, the team retired in round three after a 4-0 defeat at VfL Osnabrück . In the state league, TSV was one of the top teams and in 1984 made it to the Oberliga Hessen.

After a sixth place in the 1985/86 season , relegation followed a year later. After the immediate resurgence, it went back down to the national league in 1991. This time TSV had to wait until 1996 to return to the Oberliga Hessen. There the Battenberger rose in the 1996/97 season only in the relegation round back to the national league. The away game against champions SV Wehen was lost 0:10.
