    Promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga

    Kickers Offenbach only took third place in the group south in the subsequent round of promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga and thus missed promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga.

    German amateur championship

    As Hessian representative, VfR Bürstadt took part in the German Amateur Championship in 1986 and eliminated SV Meppen in the quarter-finals and SpVgg Landshut in the semifinals . In the final, VfR Bürstadt lost to BVL 08 Remscheid with 1: 2 after extra time.
